Your Wedding Dress Shopping Checklist

Choosing your dress is a big deal – this is not something you can simply go out and grab, you need to do your homework, consider what you want, and what suits your wedding and budget, and then decide.

Here is a checklist of things to consider when choosing your wedding dress.

  • Make a Pinterest board.

Often you see something you love, and forget about it later. By pinning every dress you love, you can go back later and rediscover all your favourite looks.

  • Consider location and the wedding theme.

A beach wedding, and a winter wedding I the mountains will require different style dresses. Think about that before falling in love with a dress that is ill-suited to your wedding location and theme.

  • Determine a budget.

It is difficult to do – but you need to set a budget and try your best to stick to it. Then don’t even look at dresses above that – you will only feel sad. Rather look for the beautiful gems that will not break your bank account.

  • Book a fitting.

The rule of thumb is that you should purchase your dress about eight months before your wedding. This will allow for sizes to be ordered, and arrive in time – especially if you are buying a designer dress such as a Sophia Tolli or Justin Alexander. This also allows for adjustments to be made to ensure that your dress fits you perfectly.

  • Wear the correct underwear.

Be sure to wear comfortable, supportive, shape-supporting underwear to your fitting. Try to avoid dark underwear as well as underwear which can cause unflattering lines as this might influence you negatively.

  • Pack shoes.

You may not have your wedding shoes yet, but take a pair of shoes the same height as you intend to wear on your wedding with to the fitting. This will give you a better idea of how the dress looks.

Now you are ready to go to your fitting, with an idea of what you want, and choose your dream dress for your big day. Good luck.
